Tell us about yourself in <200 words
My name is Robert Truijen, I am a photographer and graphic designer. My work has me constantly on the move, working in fast paced environments, and constantly presents all sort of creative challenges to overcome. Being able to use my work elevate others drives me to be the best.
How tall are you?
6' tall
How has being tall affected your life? What's one of your biggest challenges/solves?
All in all, I wouldn't consider myself tall. A good portion of my friends are anywhere from 6ft to 6' 5". The biggest disadvantages of being the size I am are finding clothing with sleeves long enough for my arms, and having computer monitors that sit just a bit too low. I have even had some stores tell me that they don't make clothing in my size (which I think is ridiculous). My current solutions have been to stick with short sleeve shirts or roll up my long sleeve shirts. I end up getting a lot of clothing tailored to fit my more slender frame as well.
What do you do and why do you do it the hard/DIY way?
I am a photographer and graphic designer. I enjoy doing things that challenge me as it forces me to grow, I strive to be the best that I can possibly be in all things I do. In the arts, you can tell the difference between a piece that is good and a piece that is great, but it can be hard to tell exactly what makes them different. What I have learned is that it's the careful planning, time, and dedication spent that elevates something to being great. To not cutting corners, to reinforcing and polishing the most vital parts.
What are your long term goals?
To create a sustainable business that continues to inspire people to be their best selves.
What have you got coming up?
Currently I have shoots planned ranging from weddings to advertising to portraits. I am also starting a D&D group with some friends that will meet every other week.
What does 'Not Bad for a Human' mean to you?
It's a casual pat on the back after an intense run with a friend where you have both pushed your limits.
Do you have a favourite Navas product and why?
Right now it's the Mac Crew Long-Sleeve shirt. It fits and feels like a comfortable dream. I would wear it to business meetings if I could. I also have the super comfy Microstripe Crowe Tee.
What is your favourite meal to stay full?
For lunches, I am a salad man through and through. For dinners I like to go with a baked chicken and vegetable spread with a side of baked yams, and (whenever it's in season) I cook one hell of a lemon salmon with asparagus. For desserts I fancy a giant cinnamon roll with an apple rum sauce./p>
Would you be willing to provide us the recipe with a picture for a future blog?
Absolutely! I only have a photo of the giant cinnamon roll though.
