Tell us about yourself in 200 words.
I'm a 27 year old currently living in Madison WI. I'm a climber, mountain biker, home brewer, and most of all- a lover of the outdoors. I work as a Biomedical Engineer at a medical device company. I'm best known for being tall, never following a recipe, and making up absurd challenges for myself.
How tall are you?
6'6"
How has being tall affected your life?
The biggest challenge with being tall is fitting into a world designed for average height. From riding in planes to buying a bicycle, nothing seems to fit easily.
What do you do and why do you do it ?
I'm a climber because I love problem solving. The physical challenge of climbing is accompanied with a mental challenge of figuring out how to get up the wall. Being an abnormal height, I usually have to come up with a unique way that to complete each climb. I'm a medical device engineer for a similar reason. I enjoy creating devices that will make doctors more effective and patient outcomes more successful.
What are your long term goals and why are they important to you?
My long term goal has always been to spend more time outside. I think it's important to explore new places and try new things to expand the life I have.
What is a major event you have coming up and why is it significant?
I have an annual climbing trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee with a bunch of friends coming up this winter. This year is the 6th annual and it always represents the finale of my outdoor climbing for the year, as well as a gauge for how much I've improved from the previous year. This year is a bit different due to COVID-19, but I'm still looking forward to it.
What does, 'Not Bad for a Human,' mean to you?
To me it's a call to be ever improving. I'm always striving to be better than my past self. Humans are always evolving, building bigger, and doing more. Not Bad is a good way of saying, "can you do more?" and pushing you to your full potential.
Do you have a favourite Navas product and why?
The shorts! They are comfy, functional for every occasion and they look great.
What is your favorite advantage of being tall?
There's a pretty distinct advantage in climbing. There are often times I can reach a hold that no one else can.
