Adam Russell is a 6'7'' firefighter who stands tall for respect, honour and courtesy! He's situated in Newfoundland, Canada and here's what he has to say.
What made you want to be become a firefighter?I decided to choose firefighting basically through first volunteering. I was a member of a local search and rescue volunteer group and my friend had started at the fire hall. He called me up one day and asked if I would be interested. Since that day the passion I have for it is crazy! I love everything about it right from making those critical split second decisions in a major accident or fire, to back at the fire hall cleaning the floors and the trucks to make them good and shinny.
6’7”
Being a tall firefighter has so many difficulties. I could make a huge list but I’ll just name a couple:
I would say a lot of people don’t realize that firefighters are professional cleaners. Haha! We do just as much cleaning as we do helping... I think.
Ahh, well... the diet and training really depends on the person. Yes, we are all in decent shape, unlike some other first responder jobs. There are always some people who don’t really watch what they eat, but they typically aren't on the front line. Myself, I just try to eat healthy. I always found it annoying when people say, “like I don’t know how to eat healthy." I mean, everyone knows it’s healthier to eat an apple over a bag of chips. So I don’t follow a strict diet, I just try to keep a balanced one.
In regards to training, I love to work out ...I truly do! I have been working out for 13 years now. For firefighting, I have really had to up my cardio game so I do a lot of hiking and stair master. To be strong is great, but to be able to breath when you need to is every bit better.
So the hours are usually 24 hours on 72 hours off. I also work on the oil field a month at a time and go offshore. I have one month at the fire hall then back offshore for a month.
The most underrated fire prevention tip is..... common sense! They say common sense isn’t so common anymore and it's true. The things we come across in people’s homes is unreal. Simple things like cleaning your chimney, changing batteries in smoke detectors, even having a smoke detector, having a carbon monoxide detector, to simply knowing your local emergency numbers. If it’s isn’t already 911.
Talk. Firefighters talk a lot with each other about everything. You name it they talk about it. Somethings they can only talk to another firefighter about because sometimes the public just doesn’t understand it. And from my experience, everyone has someone on their crew who they can talk to about anything. Sometimes, after a bad call, you just wanna come home and try to forget about it. But sometimes, it’s just not that easy, so it’s nice to get it off your chest.
Ahhh... well I’m not sure where that trend came from until I just googled it. It’s worth a read I’ll leave the link. As for my firehouse, no we don’t have any dalmatians around our place lol!
My mentors are all the older guys at the hall. Listening to all their stories and wisdom can really hit home and you learn a lot!

When it comes to Mother's Day, there's something special about spending quality time with your Mom, sister, grandmother, aunt, etc.. After all, what a woman really wants is to feel loved and appreciated, and that's something that can't always be bought. Of course, that's not to say that gifts aren't appreciated, but they’re not always sustainable either. The memories you create together will last a lifetime, and that special lady in your life will feel cherished and loved.
We hope these suggestions come in handy when you’re stuck on ideas! At Navas Lab, we value sustainability and sustainable practices and we all know a mom who seems to have everything, making gift-giving a challenge. So instead of adding to a collection of things, consider giving the gift of an experience and it also supports our economy and local businesses! If you ever have any questions or just want to say “hey, thanks for the tips!” drop us a note.
]]>We've chosen to sponsor Beach Volleyball athletes Sam Schachter and Dan Dearing and their journey to qualify for and represent Canada at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, all while enjoying the comfort of their favourite Navas outfits during travels and competitions around the globe.
You too can support Sam + Dan! Upon checkout just add “Sam+Dan” to your Navas order and Navas will donate 10% of your purchase to Sam + Dan. Most do not realize that athletes in many sports in Canada, including beach volleyball, largely bootstrap their Olympic journeys, and since competitions are in every corner on the globe, it requires a lot of financial resources … we are honored to help.
Sam and Dan are captivating not just in their 6’6” physical appearances but also the way they show up and tell stories of the ups and downs, and celebrations and disappointments of being professional athletes. Their Sandcast podcast interview (released March 2023) was especially inspiring. As they discussed their current journey, past experiences, and future plans as athletes, it felt like you were sitting right beside your best friends. These two athletes are exceptional human beings and we want everyone to get to know them!
Sam Schachter is the longest standing member of the men's Canadian beach volleyball program as a member since 2008. He started his career as a Junior World Champion in 2010, placed 5th at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, and brought home silver from both the 2018 and 2021 Commonwealth Games. Sam has 4 international FIVB medals to his name, is known as one of the top defenders in the world, and is working towards becoming one of very few Canadians with repeat Olympic appearances.
When Sam is not on the court he spends his time giving back to the community as Head Coach of the George Brown College men's volleyball program, as well as coaching his own personal clinics and private beach volleyball sessions.
Dan Dearing was first a member of Team Canada from 2008-2015. He has 4 international medals and 2 National Championships to his name while competing in over 30 international events. During his journey to qualify for the Rio Olympics, Dan suffered near career-ending injuries that forced him to step away from the sport (he talks about it all on this podcast interview - it’s an incredible story!). Taking time to focus on rehab and recovery, Dan has worked tirelessly over the last 6 years with one goal in mind - to partner with Sam and make his dream of becoming an Olympian his reality. Currently a member of Team Canada, Dan has successfully integrated himself back into the sport as one of Canada's most dominant blockers.
Dan also gives back to the community as a coach through Phoenix volleyball, adult clinic coach, and through his iBelieve initiative aimed at supporting disadvantaged youth through sport.
For us, it was an easy decision to sponsor Sam & Dan. They are first and foremost, wonderful human beings that care about their communities and how they show up for Canada around the globe, but they also are great role models. It’s very easy to see: they care about stuff that really matters, both on and off the beach volleyball court. They also just happen to be incredible athletes that jump, stretch and bend in ways you never thought possible.
The first time we spoke with them about Navas sponsoring them, it was immediately evident they aligned with our brand’s ethos (and bonus, they love that we make clothes that actually fit them!). Sam + Dan are wonderful ambassadors for our brand and we love supporting their journey to the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Take the opportunity to get to know them via their Instagram feeds: Sam and Dan. Have we mentioned yet that they are hilarious?! Get ready to laugh, and be inspired.
]]>Textile waste is the second largest polluter in landfills, where traditional synthetic materials do not break down nor biodegrade becoming a major contributor to greenhouse gases. As consumers become more aware of these issues, there is a growing demand for sustainable fashion options and that’s where we have been responding to that demand since 2016!
Since our origins, Navas Lab has been committed to producing high-quality, stylish clothing for elevated men while also doing our part to minimize our environmental footprint. Here are a few of the ways:
Navas believes in using sustainable materials in our clothing production. For instance, we use bamboo! Our bamboo material is milled in Ontario to Canadian standards for textile manufacturing and waste management and also OEKO-TEX 100. Same goes for our dyeing and water treatment (also done in Ontario). The raw bamboo fiber is grown, harvested and processed in India according to the OEKO-TEX 100 standard.
We work with local factories in our backyard that prioritize ethical and sustainable manufacturing practices. Navas Lab is concerned about worker conditions and as such, we have explicit agreements that our production partners in Vancouver do not subcontract our orders to other vendors without our specific approval.
Our local production allows for optimal quality control, textile wastage, recycling and production efficiency. It also avoids a months-long ocean voyage on cargo ship, which also burns bunker fuel for weeks in harbor during loading and unloading. Navas skips this altogether: when production is completed we pack items in cardboard boxes and drive it less than a kilometer to our warehouse - no ships or cranes required. We even return the cardboard boxes to be reused.
We believe in creating clothing that is made to last - a LONG time! Our pieces are high-quality that can withstand wear and tear. In fact, we welcome wear and tear… because most of our clothing is designed with movement in-mind!
Take our Drake v-neck tee for example. This is one of Navas’ bestsellers and it’s built to last. Made of earth-friendly bamboo for all day anti-odor wear, it’s lightweight and is a stylish piece for any situation.
Our philosophy on long-lasting clothing helps to reduce the amount that ends up in landfills. Additionally, our pieces are designed to be timeless and classical, so they can be worn for years (and years) to come.
Wherever possible, we commit to minimizing waste! We love bamboo because it’s naturally biodegradable. When we ship an order out, we use cardboard boxes and customers are reminded to recycle packaging (both on our website and order notification emails).
We have yet to find an effective replacement for the clear plastic poly bag in which individual products are stored in our warehouse. For now, we only use poly bags made from recycled plastic and encourage customers to recycle them where soft plastic recycling services exist (in Canada at London Drugs!)
We believe in transparency and responsibility in our business practices. We make sure Navas partners honor Canadian minimum wage protections, unemployment insurance and health care and we abide Canadian labor and pay standards. Our full commitment to sustainability and our community can be found here.
As we round-out the second half of April, Navas Lab’s Earth Month Sale is going strong! Join the sale online to shop our environmentally-friendly and long-lasting pieces and put a little update on your Spring and Summer wardrobe!
By choosing eco-friendly and ethical clothing options, you are supporting our brand and our commitment to reduce our environmental impact and promote fair labor practices.
Follow along with us while we grow!
]]>It may have become a popular trend in recent years, with retailers producing low-cost clothing collections inspired by the latest fashion trends, however the environmental impact is an ever-growing concern.
For tall men, finding sustainable clothing options can be a challenge, but it's more critical than ever to make the switch!
Earth Month is important for us because it raises awareness about environmental issues and encourages others to take action to protect the planet. It’s about education, taking action and working together with people and organizations towards a common goal.
Sustainability and community are two of the integral pieces of our ‘why’, which we hold ourselves accountable, as well, we expect our community to hold us accountable too. Earth Month helps to emphasize the importance of sustainability, encouraging people to adopt sustainable practices, and supporting businesses (like us) that prioritize sustainable and ethical practices.
Keeping all of this in mind, we’d like to provide you with a few reasons why shopping our sustainable clothing during Earth Month makes sense!
1. Less Waste: By choosing our sustainable options, you can help reduce the amount of waste produced by our industry. Fast fashion is notoriously wasteful, with clothing often ending up in landfills after only a few wears. Sustainable clothing, on the other hand, is made to last and designed to be worn for years to come.
2. Reduce Carbon Footprint: Sustainable clothing is made using materials and production methods that are less harmful to the environment. This includes our bamboo fabric. Our bamboo is milled, dyed and treated (water) using Canadian Standards. We chose bamboo because it’s a very comfortable material that has natural wicking and antimicrobial properties and importantly, it’s biodegradable.
By choosing sustainable options in clothing, you can help reduce the carbon footprint of the fashion industry and make a positive impact on the planet.
3. Support Ethical Practices: Sustainable clothing is often produced in a way that supports ethical practices, such as fair labor conditions and environmentally responsible production methods. By shopping at Navas Lab, you can feel good about supporting a company that prioritizes these values.
4. Comfortable and Stylish: Our clothing is not only good for the planet, but it's also comfortable and stylish. Because we design clothes specific for the statuesque, they are designed to fit well and look great. You will always feel good about what you're wearing while also making a positive impact. Win-win in our books!
5. Be part of the solution: Finally, shopping at Navas Lab is a way to be a part of the solution. By making conscious choices about what you wear, you can help drive change in the fashion industry and make a difference for the planet.
As we celebrate Earth Month (and Earth Day on April 22) join us for our "earth month sale", featuring sale-priced items up to 45% off. This can be a great opportunity to not only update your wardrobe, but also contribute to your sustainability efforts. By choosing eco-friendly and ethical clothing options, you are supporting our brand that is committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting fair labor practices!
Plus, when you're high-reaching, finding clothes that fit well can be a challenge, so taking advantage of sales can make it easier to find pieces that fit comfortably and look great. Make the most of our "earth month sale" and let's continue to celebrate our wonderful planet by making conscious choices about what we wear and the impact we have.
We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished in this industry to-date and we love to support other local and sustainable businesses to help promote economic growth and reduce the environmental footprint. If you have any suggestions on Canadian brands we should check out, please send us an email and let us know!
]]>At Navas Lab, we ‘Honour Your Height’ and can ease all of your shopping woes. Here are a few of the common concerns we hear when it comes to shopping for tall men!
The average height for men in Canada, according to Healthline, is 5 feet 10 inches (read all the stats here), which means a lot of clothing designers and manufacturers are using that standard when they produce their clothes. That leaves us tall gents often faced with limited availability in those larger sizes, and not only limited in quantities but also in the styles we have to choose from.
One of the biggest annoyances we hear is; “I only found one or two styles I like that fit well, but then I can never find my size!”. Allow us to solve this problem; Navas sizes their apparel using our standard, the Tall Size Chart, that fits the tall guy over 6’2” and under 250 lbs. It's pretty important for the fashion industry to recognize and customize the needs of all individuals, including those of us with tall stature. Agreed?
Here is the ultimate test… aside from finding clothes that fit well… is finding clothes that aren’t too short in the arms or legs. Looking polished is a hard feat when it looks like you’re wearing shirts and pants that have been shrunk! Not to mention, it’s uncomfortable and unflattering.
The same happens when you find something that fits well in the arms and chest, except it feels like you’re wearing a crop-top. Men, I know you can feel this - let’s leave those crop tops for the ladies, am I right?
We take away that feeling of self-consciousness and offer you our “T-fit”; if you need more length, the ’T’ option adds 2 inches to your sleeve and body length: MT, LT, XLT, XXLT.
Our Billy long sleeve fleece is a standard crewneck design and comes in all nine sizes (S - XXLT). Have a look at this review from a happy customer about the fit;
A whole new world
“I am writing this review for my husband, whom I purchased the shirt for. I have told some friends that I wish that I had filmed his initial try-on because his face said it all. He was genuinely so excited and also shocked by what he was wearing. A shirt... a shirt that actually fit. He could raise his arms and not see his wrists. He could reach for the sky and have no fear of his shirt riding up. He loves it, and so do I.”
Fit matters and makes such a difference in how you look and feel in your clothes, so we design with that in mind, to ensure clothes fit perfectly every time.
It’s not uncommon for tall men to experience higher prices when shopping for clothing, particularly in specialty stores that cater to height. Sometimes this is reflective of production roles, because clothing in larger or non-standard sizes can be more costly for manufacturers.
Our philosophy at Navas Lab isn’t to pay for the fit, but to provide excellent quality, sustainable, Canadian-made and produced clothing for men that are tall. It’s that simple.
If you’re on social media, give us a follow on Instagram! We are building such a strong and supportive community, thank you. If you have any questions about our brand, please reach out!

For as long as we can remember, ‘casual fridays’ was a thing in the professional work-world. Every Friday, employees were allowed to dress casual to celebrate the start of the weekend. But, we have evolved, and men aren’t wearing the traditional suit and tie anymore, yet they still want to dress professionally. Say hello to our James polo, the work-ready Navas Lab polo.
Nothing beats the classic, crisp-white collared shirt, paired with dress pants and a suit jacket, or worn with belted jeans and a blazer. Right there, you have two office-ready outfits already! Our slim-fit design allows you to wear these polo’s under blazers or sweaters comfortably, without any bunching, and our anti-sweat bamboo-cotton material keeps sweat to a minimum while keeping you cool and comfortable. Even for those Zoom-ready calls, throwing on a polo at home is a surefire way to keep the call professional!
Do you want uber-relaxed? Our collared shirt is very easily paired with sneakers or slip-ons and a casual blazer. Did you see our last blog on packing for Spring Break? Might as well throw a couple of our easy-to-pack and hard-to-wrinkle polos in your suitcase, because they are great for outdoor concerts, weekend events and even a date-night with your partner. Pair our charcoal polo with a belt and topped with a denim jacket for a trendy, yet dressed-up look.
Are you going to play a few rounds of golf? Most courses have a dress-code and a collared-shirt is required - problem solved with our James polo! (By the way, we recently shared a blog about a few of our favorite courses - check it out here!)
Wearing a polo shirt to a wedding can be a great way to look sharp and be comfortable at the same time. Our classic fit ensures that you keep that sophisticated look, yet feel relaxed and comfortable (as you can see, comfort is a trend for us). Our classic white polo is easily dressed-up for a more formal occasion, such as a wedding or business convention.
There are always styles that will be timeless and a polo shirt is one of them!
At Navas Lab, our clothing is designed using colors that are timeless and subtle - that can be paired with almost everything. Our shirts are a great backdrop for accessorizing with a bold, colorful tie or trendy blazer if the occasion calls for it. With so many different ways to style it, the collared shirt is a must-have for any man's wardrobe.

]]>Golf is such a timeless sport… one that’s been enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities for centuries. Not only is it a great way to get outside and enjoy some fresh air and exercise, but it also lends an enjoyable social experience, if the person enjoying it has patience and a good stroke!
From the challenge of mastering a tricky approach shot to the joy of sinking a long putt, golf can be a source of joy (and sometimes relaxation) that can be enjoyed in spring, summer and if we’re lucky, into fall, in British Columbia. Here are a few of the courses we like.
If you have ample time and good stamina, the golf courses in greater Vancouver, Vancouver Island (Victoria) and surrounding areas are plentiful! One of our favorites is the Meadow Garden Golf Course just east of Vancouver in Pitt Meadows.
This 18-hole course has some challenging holes and like many in the BC region you “must like water” because on the 18th hole the cup is on an island! But, the fairways are nice and open and the course is very-well maintained and kept. The backdrop for the course is also pretty outstanding, namely that signature 18th hole that has a stunning backdrop of Golden Ears Mountain.
Non-golf talk - the food is great and the service and staff are equally great. We always pop into The Wedge Bar & Grill after a round for our congratulatory beer and a burger – world famous by the way! The Wedge is open to the public and makes a picturesque patio location on a warm evening. The course is both members and public, so if you’re ever in the area and get a chance, check them out!
Tucked in and surrounded by the Purcell Mountains, the Greywolf Golf Course is a one-of-a-kind course and ranked very high as a top course in Canada. If you’ve been to Panorama, then you know the beauty in that area in both the winter and the summer and nothing beats a round in that mountain setting.
The course itself is immaculate and with those fast greens, it needs to be! A lot of elevation on this 18-hole as well, which can make for some interesting bets among friends. We don't want to spoil which hole is it, but there is that one that makes you say “WOW” and aside from that, it’s pretty straight-forward (which is the way your ball should go!)
To grab a bite after a round, both the Shack and the Cliffhanger are open year-round. The food is the same at both, but the ambiance is different – and if you’re visiting to golf then we’d recommend a patio spot so you can enjoy the views! Be warned… the times we have played at Greywolf we have always been warned to watch out for bears!
If you’re adventuring through the mountains or on your way to Banff or Calgary, then you’ve likely driven through Golden, BC. With a population of just over 3,700, Golden has a golf club and it’s a pretty fun spot! The Golden Golf Club is a 18-hole course that has a lot of history behind it. Back in 1935, the golf club was first formed and in 1962 the 5-hole course was incorporated as a non-profit society, which it still continues under this designation today!
The course is well-maintained, green can be a little challenging and the views are top-notch. The staff and food at the Club is great too. We like to think of this course as a hidden gem, so if you ever get the opportunity to uncover this secret spot, we highly recommend it. And for anyone with summer plans in the RV, the golf club is adjacent to an RV park so you can park it and ‘drive’!
We hope while you’re on a vacation or a business-trip you can swing into any of these courses to give them a try! If you do, please send us an email and tell us your thoughts on the course you played, we’d love to talk golf! At Navas Lab, we build our community (and clothing) with activity and leisure at the fore-front - subscribe to our email list now to find out when our 2023 Tall Guy Polo’s launch.
]]>With the hope for Spring just around the corner. Which means, getting vitamin D and shedding some clothing layers is on hold too. What better time to pack up and think about a little getaway than Spring Break!

Legs are Meant to be Stretched
At Navas Lab, we design our clothing lines for taller men, but we also design clothes that are comfortable (especially for taller men that have to get comfortable in smaller spots). This month we chose a collection based on some of the favorites we love (Valentine’s Day) and are comfortable (travel) – the February Collection. Our fellow tall gents, I know you cringe at the thought of cramming yourself on an airplane, given the amount of space there is for the average person of stature. But, we have designed some essential pieces that will help alleviate that stress and allow your legs to stretch (and bend) comfortably.
Meet Blain, our tall jogger and Hudson, our tall sweatpant. Both of these cozy bottoms are midweight = ideal for cooler temps, but not freezing and in-between heavy and lightweight. Ideal as a travel pant, but yet versatile enough that you can wear them at the gym, to the movies and/or just lounging around at home. Both are rated 5-star, which is a sign to click and ‘add to cart’.
It’s What's Up Top that Matters
If you’re comfortable on the bottom then you better be snug on the top too! Our February Collection features two pieces we chose that feel like a great fit for spring break travel; meet Hawkins, the NavasLab hoodie extraordinaire and Billy, our fleece pullover. NavasLab understands that there are two types of people… one that likes a zip-up and one that prefers a pullover, which one are you?
Here’s a few reasons we think hoodies AND pullovers are great for Spring Break:
If you’re not convinced and need a little help or have any questions about sizing, find our sizing chart here. If you’re not sure what style you are you can find a quiz on our site to “Find Your Style”, give it a try! All of our clothing is designed for a tall, slim-fit for a sleek and sharp look. Any questions about our clothing or you would like to talk to one of us tall guys, reach out or send us an email.

As a Canadian company, we know that Canadian-made products play an important part of our economy and are a great way to support local businesses and communities. Sustainable Canadian-made products are designed and manufactured with the environment in mind, with a focus on renewable resources, energy efficiency and waste reduction.
So how does Navas Lab reduce the footprint? To start, currently 60% of our products are manufactured using (Canadian-milled) bamboo. With bamboo, the crop requires a fraction of the water required than cotton and can be harvested multiple times per year whereas cotton is harvested once a year. Also, bamboo doesn’t require fertilizer or pesticides so further reduces impact on groundwater and runoff. It fixes nitrogen so the soil isn’t depleted after each crop and bamboo is a very practical crop!
In keeping with sustainability, we’ve set a corporate objective to design and produce our clothes for a ‘long-wear lifecycle’. A well-made and high quality product is one a consumer will purchase less often. At Navas Lab, we make classic styles in versatile, functional colors that FIT better and FEEL better; these are products you can wear year after year, especially if they’re well cared for.
We understand, as men that have been graciously given height, how hard it can be to find those high-quality, essential pieces for your wardrobe and that’s where we FIT into your closet. Reducing our environmental footprint AND designing tall mens clothing because, “we get it”!
Another Canadian brand we love and respect how their products “support” us… is Vessi Footwear. These lightweight, trendy and waterproof shoes are prodigious and because we’re both Vancouverites, we speak each other's language. If you’ve been to the West Coast of British Columbia, then you understand how much rain we get!
Vessi shoes are a dream come true for walking, running and splashing around in those puddles and yes, they are 100% waterproof. Mom’s, take note; you can shop Vessi’s children's line and absolutely let your kids splash to their hearts desire without the worry of soggy socks and cold feet. What a win! And gentleman (tall guys take note), Vessi has men’s sizing up to size 14!
So how do waterproof shoes fit into a sustainability model? One of the other ways Vessi speaks our language is how they source their materials and manufacture those amazing shoes, while promoting a healthier planet.
Vessi shoes are vegan and they’ve patented their Dyma-tex technology that is engineered with thousands of nano-sized pores small enough to keep water out while letting sweat and heat escape, and without any use of harsh chemicals, coatings, or sprays! Pretty amazing right? I know you probably have more questions so you can check out their FAQ here.
This is where the magic happens… Did you know, on average a person will spend ⅓ of their lifetime asleep! So what do they do the rest of the time? …allow us to introduce you to Hush, a Canadian company that focuses the rest of their time on …sleep! From weighted blankets to mattresses and everything else you need to melt away stress and snooze, Hush has you covered!
We’ve been following this company for years and since their success on Dragon’s Den, we’ve added the Hush Ice blanket to our collection and can honestly say, sleep has improved! The best news – the blankets come in a variety of sizes (yes tall guys - we’re talking to you too) and they’re made with bamboo so very similar to our sustainability model. Hush investigates all of their fabric manufacturers carefully for ethical practices, both in labor and sustainability.
Hush sheets are OEKO-TEX certified, meaning they're totally free of toxic chemicals, which is great news for consumers and our Mother Earth. Are you as curious as we were? If you head over to their site, you can take their quiz to find out what blanket is best for your lifestyle AND if you’re not satisfied, they have a 100-day money back guarantee. Pretty awesome guys!
Nothing lasts forever and over time, everyday wear-and-tear plays a role in depletion. We’re not biased, but Canadian-made products are designed to last longer so they require less maintenance AND use fewer resources over time. Pair that with biodegradable products and we’re all investing in a healthier future!
We’re proud to be Canadian and support other local and sustainable businesses to help promote economic growth and reduce the environmental footprint. If you have any other suggestions on Canadian brands we should check out, please send us an email and let us know!

So here's a tall man who's 6'5", 250 lbs and has a master's degree in Chemical Engineering but prefers to work-out and make movies. Back then, the culture said you could be brains or body, but never both. Moreover, tall bodybuilders were and are rare. Cool - that's good to know. Happy Birthday!

In our house we grew up with tall guy, Jeff Goldblum the cowboy in Buckaroo Banzai (in case you haven't seen it is about this gang of weirdos using lasers to travel through matter and finding that it's full of Rastafarians from another dimension led by John Lithgow).
But there was Goldblum The Fly. Goldblum Earth Girls are Easy. Goldblum Jurassic Park. All the way to Goldblum as the Grandmaster in Thor Ragnarok, which might just be peak Goldblum. I love that he went from 80s peculiar sex symbol all the way through to ultra chic alien interloper, which on second thought is what this tall man was all along. Behold.
Navas Pairing: Mads tall pants in blue in the shortest smallest size possible.
If you haven't watched The World According to Jeff Goldblum, you should.

Did you know this tall guy, Idris Elba is also a skilled DJ who released this in 2012?
Navas Pairing: Vasquez Microstripe long sleeve hoody. You need to look good while spinning, but it's gotta be thin enough to stay cool with a hood for when it's time to chill out.
Happy Birthday to Uncle Momo who happens to be born on BC Day!
]]>I think most of us met Uncle Momo for the first time as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones [or Baywatch]. His less well-known works like The Red Road, Frontier and The Bad Batch are all really good and worth a watch.
This scene is only included in some versions of Justice League but it might be the best monologue is the whole movie.
Navas Pairing: Hawkins zip hoody and Crowe Corian crew tee. Half the photos we see of Momoa he's in a hoody and a t-shirt, so we would put him in the best hoody and the best tee. Simple.
Navas specializes in making tall men's clothing for people who are 6'+ so we know what it's like to be an outlier. We are one of the few premium brands with tall sizes. It can be tough finding clothes that fit size tall well or look good on you. That’s why our mission is to make the world a more comfortable place for tall slim men by providing them with high-quality tall and slim men's clothing at affordable prices.
Navas Corian Mix material is a new option for our tall tees crews and v-necks. More structured and a little heavier than our bamboo cotton option, Corian Mix is a new mix of synthetic fibers, viscose and spandex that is still OEKO-TEX friendly and available in amazing heather options for your best mens tall t shirts.
Tall tees made from Corian Mix are soft and breathable while also being durable and eco-friendly! Finally, tall guys have some durable great looking tall tops that will stay looking great wash after wash!
I went to a local retailer and tried on some of their XL tall t shirts. Here is a photo of me in the new Navas Corian Mix Crew Tee. Navas sizes its tees specifically to fit tall slim men and it shows.
Navas products ship free to Canada, US, UK and Europe for orders over $100. Whether you're a tall guys looking for the perfect fit or a loved one seeking a gift for your tall boyfriend, husband or son, Navas strives to provide you with the best products!

A perennial casual tall and slim man. I wish we could have got him in a Drake Bamboo V-Neck tee. The kind of shirt you can wear on the road for a week in the tropics and still look and smell good. We made that shirt for this guy, the tall slim vagabond.

Dwayne Johnson has really exemplified work ethic and discipline, becoming one of the world's great action stars. He's one of the few tall bodybuilders out there kicking a**.
The Rock would push the limit of Navas tall tees but maybe he'd just need to rip the sleeves off first.
]]>*Crowe and Drake are now our best-selling tees ever!*
Navas Crowe crew neck tall tees and Drake v-neck tall tees are back in stock and introducing new colours Milano red and Juniper green! We are overdue to deliver a green tee!
Navas initially started making tall slim tees because tees are a consistent pain point for tall guys. Most tees are typically too short or way too wide and blocky or made from an unreliable material that shrinks right away.
How many of you bought a concert tee in your youth only to have it shrink beyond unwearable after the first wash even though you'd washed it in cold water? As a teen this was heartbreaking. Navas set out to produce reliable tall tees that hard-to-fit tall guys could come back to year after year.
One of our first products after tall hoodies was the tee. Of course we wanted to use bamboo material and make it tall and slim. Something to fit the 6 foot plus guy who isn't in the NFL.
The Crowe crew neck tall tee and Drake v-neck tall tee are made from the same great bamboo cotton material in the same slim fit. These tees are already designed to fit the tall size; we don't offer a "regular fit" length tee.
Navas produces a range of tees to fit tall slim guys, all manufactured sustainably right here in Vancouver BC.

Definitely the kind of tall size guy which the Navas Mads pant is designed for.
]]>We only wanted to make our tall lounge pants only if we could do it just right. Finally we found the right tall menswear material that turned out to be so good we had to make a matching pullover sweater to go with.
Introducing the Hudson lounge pant and Bishop pullover hoody. This is our first use of a new stretch french cotton terry material. Not quite as stretchy as our bamboo cotton blend our new stretch french terry has a very unique feel that is perfect for tall guys working from home!
The stretch french terry is more structured than our bamboo fleece but just as comfortable. Like all Navas fabrics it's ethically produced to the highest environmental standards including OEKO-TEX 100. Like all Navas products the Bishop and Hudson are made right here in Vancouver BC.
While the Navas Blain jogger is definitely a tall jogger, the Hudson pant can pass for a more official type of pant if required which is helpful in the work-from-home era. Compared to our Blain Jogger the Hudson tall pants is a more relaxed fit with a less tapered leg but still pretty slim. The Bishop hoody fits like Billy or Hawkins.
After many requests we have finally done it. Introducing the second Navas tall pant: Blain the tall tailored jogger. It’s hard to find tall joggers with a long inseam and with those cuffs if they’re too short they never stay in place. It's time for our long sweatpants option. Mens tall joggers were once hard to find!
We wanted a nice tidy fit for all tall guys and to make them from the same amazing Canadian bamboo cotton fleece as our Hawkins and Billy tall sweatshirts. Blain tall sweatpants have the same great cosy stretch and the same rich colors so you can match with your top if that’s your way.
I thought I’d like them primarily for chilling or working out but now I pretty much wear them all the time because they’re comfy, natural as tall pyjamas pants and who doesn’t like that?
The Hawkins zip hoody is the first tall hoodie made by Navas Lab. We started with one of the most challenging staples for any tall guy's wardrobe: the tall zip hoodie. It has always been challenging for tall slim guys to find great tall hoodies that fits since they are almost always too big or too short.
Navas Lab set out to produce the best tall size hoodies - not only would we manufacture it in Vancouver, British Columbia but we would use locally milled sustainable bamboo material. We want to make the very best mens tall hoodies using the best materials in a sustainable way (including a metal YKK zipper).
Navas bamboo fleece material is milled and dyed to our specifications in Canada to the OEKO-TEX industrial standard and cut and sewn right here in Vancouver, BC. Bamboo material is breathable, thermoregulative, naturally antimicrobial. Not to mention it's stretchy and very soft.
The perfect all-purpose hoody that looks good layered under a coat or jacket or just out on its own. Now back in stock!
Most of his time on Magnum PI was spent in short shorts, which is immortalized in this meme that we've used many times on the Navas Instagram. It goes to show that tall guys can pull off short shorts if they really want to and have done their squats. He was actually way ahead of his time with this look. That Ferrari looks comically small.
Navas Pairing: Mac Long Sleeve, the perfect everyday wear for fighting crime in hot weather.
]]>Here at Navas we LOVE the Predator movies. We pay homage to these movies all over the place so we are just stoked to have met Brian Prince the actor under the Predator suit in the 2018 film The Predator.
Last year we profiled Brian Prince in a blog about his time working on the Predator movie, his parkour training and his art.
Navas makes tees and hoodies to fit tall slim athletic guys and at 6'10" Brian is definitely our guy. Check out these IG clips to see Brian in motion!

But is shopping locally produced items always a guarantee of a better standard of product? Are the commitments they are making to serving their base with a more conscious option really having much of an effect on sustainability?
Most people will most probably say yes to those questions, and with plenty of good reasons. However, there are also a few disadvantages that are also worth mentioning, and we will cover those as well.
Sustainability
One thing people are increasingly making decisions upon is the sustainability of products that they are purchasing, and whether the raw materials used in the process are environmentally damaging, either locally or globally. More often than not, the manufacturing process that products go through in out of country factories is detrimental to their local area, as factory owners strive to make their business as profitable as possible. Unfortunately, that often means cutting corners when it comes to things like waste disposal, as often the codes and regulations in the ‘big manufacturing’ nations are lapsed or non-existent.
You only need to look at the carbon output for nations like India and China, and their corresponding air quality issues to understand that proper disposal of waste is of no concern to either their governments or their local manufacturing community. Both India and China both top the world numbers for annual pollution related deaths, both posting numbers up to 10 times higher than the next nation on the list. It’s testament to the increased awareness of consumers that they are beginning to understand the serious lack of care exhibited in these countries for their own citizens and people are turning their back on these practices.
Another lesser known factor that has become much more prominent over the last few years is the pollution caused by the global shipping sector. While it’s possible to manufacture completely sustainably in another country, you still need to get those products to your market, and with current technology in shipping, that’s simply not possible. This practice accounts for 17% of global co2 emissions and climbing, a figure that simply has to be reduced in the global fight against climate change.
Shopping locally produced products vastly decreases your carbon footprint and also sends a message to other retailers that it's time to change the way they look at their own products. The more people that choose to reject traditional manufacturing and make it clear that they are looking to brands that care more about our world and local economy, then the more brands will make that positive switch as drop in demand outweighs their cost-cutting outsourcing.
Quality
It’s important to understand the nature of overseas manufacturing when you’re looking at clothing and its quality. One of the issues most commonly experienced is difficulty in receiving a continuity of product and standards. Often with regards to many smaller brands, products are not being produced by their own factories, as the case can be with a large multinational. They are essentially outsourcing their manufacturing to an independent factory that produces products for countless other brands. They send designs and specifications to the factory, or a number of factories, they receive samples and prices, then agree a deal with the one that produces the best product, or the cheapest product.
The problem arises when a few runs of products have been sent off without issue, the factory owners often use shady practices to cut costs of the product they are producing, whether that be by changing fabrics, using poorer quality threads, cutting safety checks, or any other way they can save money. Brands are then left with a difficult choice. Do they use the products and hope no issues arise with customers? Or do they sideline a large and costly order and write off their investment? And remember, they still have to be thorough enough to notice that this has happened.
Locally manufactured products go through a much more rigorous quality-check process, whether it be because they are made ‘in-house’ or because they are made very close by. It’s much more difficult for a local producer to side-step brand’s quality requirements, mostly because it’s much easier to pursue someone legally in your own country, as they are well protected by the law, but also because in a much smaller market, reputation is everything. A public case of a manufacturer doing anything of this nature could be the end of any contracts from other brands in the future.
Price
The only negative that you may associate with locally produced products is price. Although there’s a perception that local products are much more expensive, that’s certainly less true today than it was around a decade ago. Likely because global shipping is becoming ever more expensive. The industry is operating at its maximum level, and as it has become more and more clear that shipping cannot sustain much more expansion, and demand for shipping is still rising, this means that costs go up and people are being asked to pay more to ensure that their products keep moving. These costs then have to be passed on to the customer.
It’s certainly not true even now that it is more cost-effective to locally produce products, but the difference is becoming smaller all of the time, especially with the effect that the global pandemic has had on the market, with costs 547% higher than the five year average, who can say whether the prices or the industry will ever make a recovery.
Conclusion
So as you can see, the perception around whether locally produced is better is completely subjective and a matter of what you want from the products that you purchase. Our brand is geared to support a specific lifestyle and people that are conscious of the choices they make in their lives and products they buy. We do not support overseas sweatshop labour and we will never use it. All of our products are manufactured ethically and sustainably in Canada and in Vancouver whenever possible. The Navas bamboo fabric is milled in Ontario, Canada and is one of the most sustainable forms of fabric there is - oh, and it’s also comfy as hell!
Navas is a hands-on company and we are present at every step of the process in order to be able to make ethical decisions at every step of the way and guarantee the utmost quality to our customers.
]]>Unfortunately, there just aren’t enough tall people that are super-tall for big brands or countries to make accommodating changes, the cost is too high and there’s no return to be made for them. Luckily, in the age of social media and invention, people have become smart enough to be able to create small pieces of assistance or gadgets to help the most niche members of society, and tall size people are no different.
Whether it be some all important knee defenders for your flight or some quirky hints and tricks, this comprehensive guide will be your ticket to happier travels! Let's take a look at some of the best ways us tall guys can make our travel more comfortable and enjoyable!
Airlines
Surely the biggest gripe about being a tall size and traveling has to be airline legroom. This is something that can be mitigated through upgrading, most airlines do offer additional legroom and better classes of seating for a premium price. However, these seats can be very expensive and not everybody can afford that kind of outlay when they’re on a tight budget.
There are certain airlines that operate with slightly bigger legroom if the plan configuration is set in a certain way, but this is potluck. It is difficult to know whether you’ll get the extra or not. The standard size of the space you will see on most flights is 31-32”, but on some set ups you will get 33”, a really good increase if you can get it.
For the best chance of getting that coveted leg room, take a look at these airlines:
Air France, Air India, Asiana, Emirates, EVA, JAL, Korean
It’s not guaranteed, but it’s worth a shot, right?
Another way you could secure some help through your airline is by being as polite and chatty with the check-in staff and the air hostesses as possible. Explain the tough time you have on flights and the issues you have had in the past, they might just bump you into a better seat to ease your travel woes.
Gadgets
In our constantly evolving world there are new products hitting the market around the world every second of the day, so logically there must be some items out there to help with tall travel. We’ve had a look around the market and found some of the coolest and most helpful products you can pick up to make travelling more comfortable.
Suction Cup Mirror
This is a great little piece of kit to have with you when you’re a tall guy. Mirrors in bathrooms, especially in foreign countries, are always set way too low for you to use effectively. With this product you can set your mirror at any height and go through your morning routine with ease.
Knee Defenders
As we stated above, leg room is a killer on flights, and that gets even worse when the person behind you decides to throw their recliner back without realising your knees are right up to the seat. These knee defenders will prevent any unexpected injuries, making sure you don’t end up with the worst possible start to your travels.
Tall Neck Support Pillow
Travel pillows are one of the world’s most must-have travel accessories at the moment. The only problem is that the standard products are not built for tall people with longer or wide necks. You can pick up this specialist item for the taller man and enjoy your flight in much more comfort, stopping those annoying aches and pains that could spoil the beginning of your journey.
Luggage Hand Extension
Here’s an awesome product to assist you on your travels. It’s super-annoying that taller people can’t comfortably use a rolling suitcase because the handlebar is way too short. This extension means that you’ll be able to get in on the action. No more lugging around a huge suitcase and giving yourself back pain before your flight has even begun!
Inflatable Lumbar Support
Any product that can help with your flight comfort is sure a must-have. This inflatable lumbar support will ensure your back is well supported and in a healthy position throughout your flight. This means you’ll be able to enjoy a more comfortable journey, but also you won’t have an uncomfortable first few days of the trip with pain associated with your flight.
Tall Clothing
Navas
While clothing isn’t strictly a gadget, we’ve decided to add our product lines in this section because it’s extremely innovative. Not only is Navas a brand that caters exclusively to tall men's clothing, but we actually put a lot of research and time into creating the best possible product for our customers.
The main grip with clothing for the taller man with a slimmer build is that you either have for attire that is too short, or excessively baggy. With a normal sizing chart, the clothes always get wider as they get longer, meaning the fits generally end up looking nothing short of ridiculous.
We cater to the tall size man that may be tall and skinny or simply a tall fit man. You deserve a fit made for your body and Navas Lab has the perfect tall men's clothing, designed by tall guys who get it.
Then there’s also our fabric, which is ideal for travelling. We make our products with a Bamboo fabric, it’s incredibly soft and comfortable, but is also uniquely breathable. You’ll be able to enjoy premium products that allow you to be yourself in whatever climate. With everything from shirts to pants, to boardshorts and even accessories, we’ve got everything you could possibly need for a trip or vacation.
]]>What is Bamboo?
Bamboo is a very quickly growing grass that has been rising in popularity due to its classification as an eco-crop. With that in mind, it’s easy to see why the plant is having a surge of demand. Whether it be construction, homewares or fabric the product seems to be a growing craze that shows no signs of slowing down. But is Bamboo fabric sustainable?
How is Bamboo grown?
Firstly, Bamboo is generally a very sustainable crop that grows quickly, requires no fertilizer, and self-regenerates from its roots, removing the need for replantation. Compared to the difficulty of growing cotton, bamboo wins in a landslide.
However, although bamboo can be grown sustainably, and there’s no reason to grow the crop in a hard and omitting way, there’s no guarantee that all the product you come across has been grown sustainably. Most of the world’s bamboo stocks come from China, and although the government has tried hard to crack down on harmful yield-boosting practices, it’s difficult to eliminate the problem.
Your carbon footprint needs to ask the question, “Is your bamboo farmed sustainably?” when shopping, a promise we’re proud to be able to deliver on. That’s why we create as many products locally as we can, controlling the process for maximum results. We use the best available bamboo fabric which is created in Canada, from imported bamboo rayon. The milling and dyeing processes meet the Oeko-Tex 100 Standard, which is widely regarded as the standard for the proper use and disposal of textile processing chemicals.
What about the manufacturing process?
The fabric we use for creating our products is a silky soft bamboo fabric that you might find commonly used in clothing, sheets, underwear, etc. Its name is Bamboo Rayon and it is produced using a chemical process, quite similar to the way wood chips are turned into rayon. This is the point in the production process that makes sustainability a near-impossible task with current technology. A Rayon is a raw material that has been converted using a chemical process. There are many sources you can use to create rayon, whether it be cotton, wood, or bamboo.
Bamboo rayon is usually created using a viscose process, which involves the dissolution of cellulose material in a chemical solution, producing a viscous substance. This is then put through a spinneret process, and is spun into fibers that can be woven into threads and eventually fabrics. The chemicals commonly used in this process like caustic soda and carbon disulfide are a risk to human health. However, new technology is now allowing us to capture around 50% of the hazardous waste produced by this process, with the ability for that to be reused sustainably. This new development is a testament to the incredible work that the wet processors are doing to improve their practices. We hope that we will be very close to capturing 100% of these chemicals in the next few years to come.
The fabric that you get as a finished product from this process is highly breathable, and much stretchier than cotton, making it perfect for clothing that sits on the skin, and particularly useful when creating products for people with larger statues. It’s also easier to create a softer and more high-quality product because it’s much simpler to work into a high thread count. There are also notable possibilities of UV resistance and antibacterial properties, but more evidence needs to be secured to see exactly what those are.
So is bamboo fabric sustainable or not?
Bamboo is a highly sustainable crop that is easy to grow and doesn’t impact heavily on the environment. Its chemical-free and speedy growth make it the ideal candidate for sustainability in the future. Research and technology advances need to be made before the bamboo fabric can be classed as completely sustainable.
However, the process is much much more sustainable than polyester and conventional cotton. We’re proud to be a brand that is supporting the industry to make those leaps in advancement and we’re incredibly excited to be part of the world’s sustainable future. Investing in products of this nature during this phrase means that you’re supporting the great work being done to combat aggressive and unsustainable farming practices, and making a difference through the power of your own choices.

I haven’t happily bought tall dress pants in 20 years. Pants for long legs with a 36" inseam are hard enough to find... let alone with a leg that's big enough compared to the waist. Most pants I would go up 1-2 sizes to get enough room in the leg and then strap the waist down with a belt. Tucking anything in was an impossibility.
Now you can get pants for tall skinny guys with a compact waist that you can wear without a belt if you want. Overall the cut is somewhere roomier than skinny but not straight/regular. There's a slight taper. The Mads is designed to be just slim enough that it'll fall well over dress shoes or sneakers, but roomy enough that they will fit well over Blundstones.
It feels good to wear pants that fit size tall right!
